I recently received an email that posed a simple question about the fragrance in our Jüni product line, and as a response, I thought I would take the time to review our choice of essential oils in Jüni.

Dear Beverly,
Is there a reason why Jüni isn’t fragrance-free? Does XanGo plan to come out with a fragrance-free line?

Dear Rebekah,
The fragrance that you smell in our Jüni products is a natural aroma created by our inclusion of a few different therapeutic oils. Though we did ensure that Jüni is free from synthetic fragrances, because it contains high-quality pure essential oils, it does have a distinct natural fragrance.
I understand that some people do not prefer the scent of lavender; however, the inclusion of lavender was not based on its smell alone. For many different reasons, lavender is the most requested and sold fragrance in the world, and many of those same reasons helped us in making our decision for Jüni.
To fully understand the fragrance of Jüni, you need to first understand that lavender is only one of the pure essential oils that we chose to include in its formulation. With multiple essential oils going into our Jüni formulas, each one of them subtly affects the aroma that it produces while still serving an important function in caring for your hair and body.
Three Important Oils
The essential oil blend in Jüni is a combination of lavender, chamomile and sweet orange. Therapeutically, lavender and chamomile have a very soothing, calming and overall tension-releasing effect. Meanwhile, sweet orange is used to temper the top notes of the fragrance and impart a sweeter aroma.
In Ecuador, where the formulator of Jüni was born, it was common practice for the locals to burn lavender flowers over open pits and wave their children’s cloth diapers through the smoke as a way of disinfecting them. Our formulator herself would douse cotton balls in lavender oil and place them in her children’s ears to soothe them when they were sick and had earaches. Another common use for lavender in Ecuador was in therapeutic rubs to massage a baby’s body when sick.
Besides being the “mother of calm,” chamomile also has fabulous antiseptic properties. Our chamomile also contains naturally occurring azulene, which carries its own tremendous healing properties. That, combined with its wonderful effect on dry, chapped skin, helped make chamomile an easy choice for inclusion in our Jüni formula.
Sweet orange has a moisturizing effect on the skin, as well as an uplifting effect on the body. The acidic nature of the orange lends itself to also being a great healer and disinfectant.
We chose to use very gentle pure oils from one of the top steam-distilled, family-owned companies in America. The combination of these oils produces a pleasant aroma, but the aroma is only a secondary benefit to their wonderful therapeutic benefits.
So, in answer to your question, we do not currently have any plans to launch a fragrance-free Jüni line; however, because we are a young company with a listening ear, it does remain an option for the future.
As always, Rebekah, thank you for sharing the goodness of XanGo, my friend.
Many blessings to you,
Beverly
Thank you for all the wonderful detailed information. I am very happy with the ingredients in Juni and love the product. Would like to have family sized bottles available since I run out of it too quickly. Thank you for making the pumps available.
I have a question about the mineral foundation. Are there any nanosphere ingredients in the foundation? Dr. Oz was talking about that on his show how it can get into the lungs and may have long term damage to the lungs in time.
