Oats have been used throughout the ages to soothe dry and irritated skin. Although the first grains discovered were most likely weeds, cultivated oats were discovered in Switzerland during the Bronze Age (2000 to 700 BC). During Roman times oats were known to be effective skin cleansers and referenced in ancient medical literature as treatment for addressing a variety of skin concerns. In addition to the numerous nutritional benefits of oats, they also have a long history of use as a potent skin soother. With recent studies proving its efficacy oats seemed a very natural addition to the Glimpse Mineral Treatment.

Oats have been shown in various clinical studies to increase moisture levels within the skin. When combined with water, oats create a barrier on your skin, this benefit is derived from its high concentration of hydrophilic (water loving) polysaccharides. The moisture binding ability of oats benefits the Strateum Corneum (the outermost layer of your epidermis) increasing moisture levels, and reducing TEWL (trans epidermal water loss), while acting as a “buffer” and maintaining/restoring a proper ph. No less important than its impressive water-binding abilities are the anti-oxidant, UV absorption, and anti-inflammatory activities oats seem to exhibit. Ferulic and caffic acids are among the most potent antioxidants found in oats with ferulic being a strong UV absorber. As oxidative stress being linked to a host of skin diseases antioxidants may help to protect your skin against many inflammatory skin conditions. The flavanoids found in oats have been shown to act as UVA screens and tocopherols (vitamin E) have been proven to have anti-inflammatory effect on the skin as well as reducing (and sometimes preventing) UV-induced damage to the skin.

Let’s review the Mineral Treatment and with that our first ingredient zinc oxide. Long known for it’s ability to calm and soothe the skin, zinc has been shown to have many therapeutic benefits for your skin such as supporting faster healing, inflammation reduction, increased barrier function repair and broad environmental protection. I would like to explore the activity of zinc and why I added it to the formula and the critical benefits that zinc provides your skin:

ENVIORNMENTAL PROTECTION: Zinc oxide provides broad range sun protection; in fact it has the broadest UV range protection of any single ingredient on the market. Zinc oxide is a physical sun-blocking agent that works primarily by reflecting/scattering ultraviolet light. It’s range of efficacy covers UVB as well as both short (320-340 nm, UVA-2) and long (340-400 nm, UVA-1). It also has been proven to block visible light up to wavelengths 700 nm. Recently there have been multiple studies on the increased protection offered by zinc when combined with anti-oxidants showing very promising results. Let’s compare this with an ingredient that is commonly found in UV protection products as well as MOST mineral products titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide has been used as a sun protection ingredient for many years most recently in many of the Mineral products on the market today. Usually these formulas contain micronized or nano-sized titanium dioxide, which has been shown to be a lung irritant (when in powder form) and it has significant photocatalytic activity and may promote formation of free radicals when exposed to sunlight. Additionally, titanium dioxide does not offer the skin calming (anti-irritation) and protection (anti-oxidant) qualities that zinc oxide exhibits.

PROMISING ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY: Topical zinc has been reported to provide antioxidant photo protection for skin. Two antioxidant mechanisms have been proposed for zinc: zinc may replace redox active molecules, such as iron and copper, at critical sites in cell membranes and proteins. On the other hand, zinc may induce the synthesis of proteins that protect against free radicals. Although there are still question as to how it works, topical zinc may provide an important and helpful antioxidant defense for skin.

POTENCY: This is a topic that I do not spend enough time writing about and that is the concentration or percentage of actives contained within the formula. Many formulas that boast the therapeutic or environmental protection qualities of their product due to zinc contain as little as two percent. The Glimpse Mineral Treatment contains over 20% uncoated zinc oxide to provide your skin the maximum benefit from zinc.

About a month ago I posted a blog about how XanGo quickly propelled the the mangosteen fruit from non-famed to something everyone knew about. First in the US and now globally. Even J. Spring is just around the corner and at the change of season my skin actually goes through a dry phase although my typical skin type is normal to combination. My sister, who was on a business trip, got melted butter on her blouse. She used the gel cleanser on the stain and it came right out. She was thrilled. So after her telling me this I decided to try it on something else. My car has leather seats and when I wear newish jeans they leave blue on my seats. I had tried to remove it with leather cleaner and to no avail. Having my sister’s input I decided to use the gel cleanser on the seat and the blue came right off. I was so excited. Please share my story and my gratitude. Another day has passed and my hand looks great, one little spot that I have my eye on. I keep applying Glimpse.

Another story to share: Do you remember my friend Joyce at the salon? Her son had the CO2 laser over spring break. The doctor was a plastic surgeon and drinks Xango, told Jeff to continue to drink it and use the Glimpse skin care. Jeff had done some research to prepare for surgery and found some pictures of the healing stages and all the swelling that takes place. The doctor had him prepared for the worse. Well…. he used one system and a complete bottle of pericarp oil prior to surgery and started on the second round, he drank 6-9 oz of juice every day after surgery and he sailed through. He was in pain for the first day and part of day two. That’s it.. no pain, no swelling..I went to visit on day 4 and he looked great and felt great. Needless to say the doctor was amazed at how well he is healing. He took pictures of the first few days, I asked him if he would share them with me, have not heard back yet. I think he is going to heal so well and feel good about himself and that is truly the biggest blessing!

I had the privilege of meeting you at convention in Salt Lake last fall and your graciousness and kindness exudes as you speak.

I would like to tell you my story. I am 65 years of age, a mom and a grandma. I have never been able to use any skin care products throughout my life. In fact about one year before I was introduced to Glimpse, I was at a woman’s show and in watching a demonstration I decided to give it “one last try”. I purchased five products and the various ingredients included minerals from the dead sea for a cost of almost $1,000.00. This was on a Saturday and by the following Tuesday my face was red, swollen and very itchy. Within five days I tried to return the product and the company would not refund my money. Instead they replaced the products with other products which “should be better for my skin”. It took approximately two weeks for my skin to look normal again and I could not bring myself to use the products given to me. I was extremely skeptical when I began using glimpse.

“WOW” GLIMPSE IS AMAZING, my skin feels so fresh and clean. Thank you and XanGo for such an amazing product.

Now we have another amazing line, JUNI. Again, only able to use lotions sparingly and not regularly, I am totally hooked. Bryan Davis, Beverly Hollister and 500K Premiers Anton & Dustin Garrity met with qualified Glimpse Beauty Club members for a special afternoon tea party to learn about Glimpse Topical Nutrition. Taiwan
After Hong Kong, the next destination for the traveling team was Taiwan. They were thrilled see over 400 Distributors there! REGIMEN MODIFICATIONS for TYPICALLY DRY SKIN

AM Glimpse Regimen for typically Dry Skin

1. Cleanse – using Glimpse Creamy Cleanser (another option would be to use a two-thirds to one-third mixture of Gel Cleanser to Creamy Cleanser) – using a quarter-sized amount of cleanser smooth over face neck and chest. Continue to massage the cleanser over your skin for at least 2 minutes paying particular attention to your forehead, hairline, chin, jaw line and crevices of the nose. Remove cleanser with a clean cotton washcloth then rinse by splashing your face, neck, and chest with tepid water. Use a fresh cotton towel to pat your skin dry.
2. Tone – Use of the Glimpse Toner is not only an opportunity to saturate your skin with BioActiveX3 particularly the Polymeric Complex, it also provides a layer of additional hydration. Two sprays for your face and an additional spray for your neck and chest followed immediately by the Serum/Pericarp Oil mixture will help keep your skin feeling hydrated throughout the day.
3. Treat – In the palm of your hand mix together three pumps Serum and 10 -15 drops Pericarp Oil apply to face and neck. If you would like to treat your chest which I recommend you will need more product. It is critical for someone with a dry skin condition to move from Toning the skin, to Treating the skin, to Hydrating the skin without hesitation in order to capitalize on the layering of nutrients and hydration. For an excellent eye treatment mix one drop Pericarp Oil, one pump Serum, and one pump Moisturizing Cream apply above the Orbital bone (upper cheek bone under the eye) and up under the eye and up to the brow bone, do not take this over the lid of your eye.
4. Hydrate – Apply two pumps Moisturizing Lotion (yes the lotion, there are several ingredients in the lotion that will help with dry skin, Salicylol Phytosphingosine is one of them, the trick is not to overdo it) to your face and neck, if you want to treat your chest you will need one more pump. Next apply three pumps of Moisturizing Cream to face and neck, again if you want to treat your chest you will need more product.
5. Repair – Apply the Mineral Treatment for dry skin I recommend the Creamy application as opposed to the Dry. Experiment with the product find out what works for you best. PM Glimpse Regimen for typically Dry Skin:

1. Double Cleanse – using Glimpse Creamy Cleanser followed by Glimpse Gel Cleanser or the Cream/Gel mixture described in the AM Regimen Step 1. If you are unfamiliar with a double cleansing, you are in for a treat. This simple addition to your regimen will dramatically improve any skin condition and I highly recommend making it part of your evening ritual. To perform a double cleanse begin with Glimpse Creamy Cleanser for your first cleanse, use a quarter sized amount (you may need a bit more) work between your hands and smooth onto your skin. Massage the cleanser over your skin for at least 2 minutes paying particular attention to the congested areas of your face and neck. Remove cleanser with a clean cotton washcloth and follow immediately with a second cleanse using the Creamy Cleanser, Gel Cleanser, or the Creamy/Gel mixture.
2. Treat – In the palm of your hand mix together 3 pumps serum and 15 drops (or more) Pericarp Oil, smooth over face and neck, you will need more product to treat your chest.
3. Hydrate – Repeat step 4 from your AM Regimen, if you need extra hydration add an additional layer of Moisturizing Cream.

Remember, your skin is a very dynamic organ and what it needs varies from day to day. When you have become familiar with the formulas you will naturally start adjusting your mixtures, customizing them to deliver to your skin what it needs now.

In the mid-70’s it was thought that the Stratum Corneum (SC), the outermost layer of your epidermis and your skin’s barrier, was biologically inert seen as something similar to a thin sheet of plastic covering the body. Over the last 30 years in particular the past 5 years scientists have discovered the biological and chemical activity of the SC is incredibly intricate and complex. Understanding the structure and function of our barrier is important because it is the key to healthy skin. Hydration is absolutely essential for proper functioning of the skin particularly the SC. The retention of water (hydration) in the skin is reliant upon two major factors, the presence of natural moisturizing factor (NMF) and proper barrier function to reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL).
