At First Blush: Keeping Rosacea in Check

Rosacea is a very complex and individualized skin condition. This means that for one individual certain foods, supplements, or skin products may cause a flare up, but not for another with the same condition.

Being aware of the potential for reactivity is very important. I believe that someone with Rosacea will benefit from Glimpse, but if we don’t introduce a new skin care regimen slowly the chance for a negative outcome is considerable.

My recommendation for individuals with a history of Rosacea is as follows:

  • Introduce one product at a time – this is critical, if you do have a “flare up” it is much easier to pinpoint which product could be exacerbating the condition.
  • Begin by introducing a Glimpse cleanser – typically individuals with Rosacea prefer the Gel Cleanser. However, there are those who do use the Creamy Cleanser and still others who may decide to use both, eventually. I must stress that it is important in the first two weeks that you use only one cleanser and then proceed to incorporating both into your regimen should you choose to do so.

After 2-4 weeks (dependant upon reactivity or lack there of) introduction of the second product is recommended.

  • Introduce a 70% Serum to 30% Pericarp Oil blend – if you don’t have access to the Pericarp Oil introduce one of the moisturizers.

While I can’t stress enough the importance of introducing one product at a time, the Serum/Pericarp Oil combination is the exception.

I have seen the amazing benefit this combination provides for many different types of compromised skin. For those who are introducing a moisturizer, more often than not, you will prefer the lighter formulation of the lotion but again, there are exceptions.

  • In an additional 2-4 weeks introduce either the serum or the moisturizer; this will depend upon which products you introduced for the second step.

If introducing the serum as the third product I strongly advise you to mix it with one of the Glimpse moisturizers. For Rosacea, I recommend light usage of the Toner. You may begin to add one to two sprays of Toner mixed with the Serum or with one of the moisturizers or all three blended together.

With Rosacea, if you are currently using any prescription products to control the condition, please continue usage as prescribed by your physician. Although I believe that many of you will ultimately be able to discontinue the use of your prescriptions, to do so while introducing new products is a recipe for disaster.

Lastly, incorporating the Glimpse Mineral Treatment into your daily regimen can have a significant impact on your Rosacea. The anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of Zinc Oxide has been well documented. The Zinc Oxide contained within the Mineral Treatment can provide a soothing and calming benefit to a condition such as Rosacea.
